Distinctive Points

  • Christian worldview – teach from the conviction that all truth is God's truth

  • History- and literature-based curriculum
    • Chronological study of history using primary source documents rather than simply using textbooks
    • Timelines and geography used as building blocks
    • Living Books – study of the greatest literature of past and present in a way that reinforces the history being studied
    • Phonetics-based reading program

  • Traditional math and science study enhanced with hands-on exercises, manipulatives, and lab work; nature studies for the younger grades

  • Music and music history (study a number of composers and their major works each year)

  • Art and art history (study a number of artists and their major works each year)

  • Foreign language (Spanish for K-2nd and Latin beginning in 3rd grade)

  • Structured physical education, free play, dance and games; athletic teams planned for upper schools
